Toms River Basketball has implemented a team formation process that consists of players at all grade levels being evaluated for an hour prior to the start of the winter season only, and graded by the division leader(s) on an A to D basis.  It is up to the respective Division Leader to allocate those players, based on their grades, evenly amongst the teams to the best of his or her ability.

Toms River Basketball will do its best to ensure that teams are formed and created as fair as possible while aiming to maintain competitive balance. In some cases there may be instances where some team(s) are less competitive than others once teams are formed and competition begins, this should not be blamed on the individual or individuals who formed the team(s).

For all Competitive divisions (3rd Grade and above), requests from a parent for a particular team, coach, or teammate may be received, but we cannot guarantee that they will be honored. Teams are normally put together during a team formation process (as mentioned in the above paragraph), which is normally in November. The Division Leader(s) will determine if the coaches are to attend and participate in the evaluation and grading process. The League and the Division Leaders will attempt to place players on teams to avoid scheduling conflicts whenever possible, provided they are disclosed at the time of sign up on the website, however, the League and Division Leader cannot guarantee that this will occur in every case.
